Against a modernized black background where the brushstrokes are visible, Simone Veil appears as the guardian of women's rights.
A play on words with "Simone veille..." in the sense that we should not take our rights for granted forever. Even today, these rights can be challenged or even eliminated in other countries.
This painting is part of an upcoming series that will pay tribute to women who have advanced rights and equality between men and women. Simone Veil remains an admirable figure, in any case, due to her painful past in the concentration camps and her journey as a woman in the patriarchal political world of the time.
The black background with brushstrokes, like an unfinished canvas, is a nod to Street Art or posters stuck on walls that often deliver committed messages.
