Projet Handicap à 4 mains

Four-Handed Disability Project

Health & Culture Day

Regarding the subject of disability, following preliminary workshops and exchanges between artists, we highlighted the following contrasts through an installation:

Visible/Invisible

Balance/Imbalance

Pain/Confinement//Well-being/Energy (the body and its appearances)

Resistance/Limit/Resilience

Fragility/Strength

Repair/Reconstruction

Refusal/Acceptance (material but also administrative)

This creation is therefore a work on what is disability (initially, for us artists), while highlighting the positive/negative psyche (symbolized by the suspension of faces and masks, positioned upright or upside down; our eyes, our mouths, our ears... with different expressions). Then, so that everyone can make this theme their own, we suggested adding words, phrases, quotes, flowers, or images... (on the masks, on drawings, on suspended photos), and finally, we proposed taking hold of medical equipment to "question" them, customize them, transcend them, or

Embellish them (with a wheelchair, a wheel, etc., a walker, a crutch, etc.).

The ribbon(s) of different color(s) became the "Ariadne's thread" of the installation!

In a caring, creative, and participatory setting, the artists and the mediator invite you to join them for an afternoon or an evening of collective exploration around our relationships with disability, the body, and artistic expression.

The goal is to re-examine and share our experiences of disability and our relationships with medical objects and materials by making them resonate with various artistic disciplines and media (visual arts, photography, physical expression).
