The history of the painting:

"When pain becomes throbbing and perpetual, like waves constantly washing up on a thousand shores of our body; the pain is always there, it has even become an integral part of our body. Whatever happens, it is there, it varies according to the waves of life but in perfect continuity throughout these years. It even manages to become writing, expression, it presses and compresses the heart and the body to become blood, the tint of its ink that stains the blank canvases of these poor shipwrecked people, who are in perpetual struggle and who end up giving up and letting themselves go in the face of this predetermined fatality, impossible to erase; and the pain manages over time to be integrated and assimilated into this new written page."
