Beneath Van Gogh's beautiful starry blue sky appears the face of Frida Kahlo, a famous Mexican painter whose life was strewn with obstacles that she always managed to face with dignity and courage. What interests me is the intimacy of this great woman who knew how to draw an immeasurable strength from within in the face of an extraordinary destiny, hence the title "The Thousand and One Fridas." But this plurality also refers to all the intimate and physical fractures she had to endure during her life, due to polio, a bus accident, and her passionate relationship with a great Mexican muralist, Diego Rivera. These fractures are represented by the various mosaics that make up the different collages on her face. Imprisoned in a broken and painful body, she always continued to paint, even when she was forced to remain lying in her bed.
A mirror was also hung from the ceiling so that she could create numerous self-portraits, hence the importance of choosing her own portrait for my painting.
Work entirely protected by a high-quality varnish that guarantees its long-term durability.
