The background of this canvas was worked with spray cans and is composed of different collages representing some of Salvador Dali's works, portraits but also the village of Cadaques where he had set up his house and his studio.
These images were reworked with acrylic paint and nested within Dali's portrait.
This colorful and modernized painting by Dali is a tribute to this great 20th century artist whose originality and ability to transcend the limits and boundaries of his time I admire.
When I think of Dali, I also think of Catalonia, whose flag colors are reflected in his hair (red and yellow). We have lived through a long period of confinement with lockdowns, restrictions and war at the gates of Europe... So I project into this painting my desire to return to Catalonia and more precisely to Barcelona, and to be able to re-admire the beautiful mosaics and the famous salamander in Parc Guell created by the famous architect Antoine Gaudi.
We also find these mosaics in the frame of the portrait of Salvador Dali and the famous lizard to the right of the portrait.
Canvas fully protected thanks to a quality varnish.
