I don't paint Frida Kahlo because she is "newly fashionable", but because I have known her story and her journey for a very long time through my specialized training in Hispanic literature and civilization.
She then crossed my path again as a painter, a woman and a person suffering from a chronic illness.

She is a great Mexican painter whose courage and strength I admire in the face of the various adversities she encountered in her life. Suffering from an illness and then the victim of an accident, she was always a prisoner of a suffering body and yet she always knew how to raise her head and never stopped painting until the end of her life.
Her portrait is painted in acrylic and illuminated by the color yellow, like a Mexican Madonna. She has always been attached to her Mexican identity and to the nourishing mother earth, as she represents herself in the painting at the top right receiving the vegetable milk.
