The History of the Painting:

Light emerges from the top left to illuminate and warm this canvas which at first glance may seem dark but which is also revived by the silver in the center of the painting.

A mask is defined as a deceptive exterior, an appearance. It serves to conceal one's identity. Often, a mask is a disguise (evident through the stiffened fabric and lace print on top) used to terrify an enemy. But light prevails and drives away the evil spirits.

The mask is also becoming another, another freer and lighter (with the image of feathers), freed from the usual worries.

We all wear a mask every day, it's up to us to decide whether we choose to reveal ourselves or not...
