This painting is inspired by the famous painting "Guernica" by Pablo Picasso which is one of my favorite works of the Great Master because of the impact it produces on the viewer and the commitment it represents.
I had the chance to admire this great work at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, and since that day, I have only thought about being inspired by it or making my own version.
From the painting Guernica, which represents in its painting the air attack of the Germans on the Basque village "Guernica", and which is horrifying at first glance, I decided to focus on a single small element in the painting to which no one necessarily pays attention, it is the small flower at the bottom and almost in the center of the painting. For me it represents the hope of renewal and a better future.
So the little flower on my painting grew and grew bigger than the right side, which generally represents the future in works.
And all the elements of Guernica were diverted in the hope of a better future, mixing Spain and France through emblematic representations of the two countries.
The small window from which the characters of Guernica cannot escape has become an open sky where the characters have the opportunity to project themselves towards true values that would be published by benevolent media represented by the strength and passion of the beautiful stallion in motion. The gloomy atmosphere of the gray tones of Guernica is brightened by a powerful source of heat that illuminates and delights all the characters who are seeking the light.
The dead child of Guernica in his mother's arms becomes a dove... And the latter falls in love with the powerful bull in a suit of lights.
Although the context cannot be compared in any way to the Civil War, it can in a sense resemble the current crisis that many countries are unfortunately facing...
But the resistance is there, flag raised and weapon in hand: no pasaran!
